HessAmerica Reaches Milestone:
Celebrates Twenty Years in U.S. as Pacesetting Manufacturer of Original-Design, Architectural Outdoor Luminaires
HessAmerica celebrates twenty years of design innovation in North America following its debut at LightFair in 1997. Quickly recognized for its full range of distinctive, precision-designed luminaires for commercial/institutional use, the company continues to innovate and deliver site solutions today and into the future. As testament to the timeless, high-quality luminaire designs that HessAmerica originally introduced in the U.S. in 1997, many have been updated for LED light sources and are still available today alongside other new, original-design luminaires.
Over the past twenty years, HessAmerica products have received numerous awards for innovative design, lighting performance, and technical advancements including early efforts in outdoor indirect lighting, introduction of the world's first pole mount LED luminaire, development of modular light column systems, and pioneering light engine concepts that allow reproducible lighting performance as LED technology advances.
HessAmerica products have firmly entrenched themselves into the fabric of notable North America architecture with installations ranging from NFL and MLB stadia in St Louis, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Minneapolis; to transportation facilities encompassing airports, light rail, and similar complexes from Miami to San Francisco and many points in between. Whether highlighting feature spaces in theme parks, upscale hospitality venues such as hotels, malls, or resorts, or streetscapes and campuses, discriminating designers have looked to HessAmerica for fit, finish, and performance in products with a distinct design vocabulary. The company's palette of outdoor lighting solutions ranges from pole and wall mounted luminaires, illuminating columns, and bollards; to specialty lighting products such as modular light columns, multi-functional lighting systems, and catenary suspended luminaires.
HessAmerica will be exhibiting at lighting and design exhibitions in 2017, including LEDucation in New York, LightFair in Philadelphia, and the ASLA Expo in Los Angeles as a proud member of the Nordeon Group.
Hess Light+Form originally began as a foundry in 1948, transitioning into luminaire manufacturing thirty years later. By 1983, through collaboration with design professionals, Hess had become an innovator of outdoor lighting products, developing exclusive designs for the architectural community. In 1997, North America offices and plant were established in Shelby, North Carolina, and then subsequently moved to larger facilities in Gaffney, South Carolina, to support growth and demand fueled by consistent introductions of cutting-edge architectural outdoor area lighting products.
In 2013, Nordeon B.V. of the Netherlands, a leading international commercial lighting manufacturer, acquired Hess Light + Form, thus HessAmerica. Ownership under the Nordeon Group has enabled the company to be ever more efficient and flexible, allowing focus on the development and manufacture of premium, innovative, unique-design exterior luminaires and complementary site amenities.
